Sacatar Foundation Artist Residency
About this opportunity
The Sacatar Foundation offers an 8-week residency on the island of Itaparica near Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Since 2001, the programme has hosted over 550 artists from more than 75 countries across all disciplines. Residents receive a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three daily meals (except Saturday nights, Sundays, and Brazilian public holidays), individual studio space, weekly laundry service, logistical support, and airport transfers. One French artist per cycle may receive additional funding towards airfare and a stipend through the Villa Fatumbi partnership. No stipend or airfare is otherwise provided.
Application tips
The programme values exploration and transformation over finished works. A US$25 application fee applies. If you are based in France, you may be eligible for the Villa Fatumbi supplementary funding.
