About this opportunity
WIELS, the Brussels contemporary art centre, hosts up to 20 artists a year for residencies of three to six months, focused on artistic practice, critical reflection, dialogue with peers and engagement with audiences. Two to three of its nine studios go to Belgian or Belgium-based artists for six-month residencies (January to June or July to December), chosen through an open call published on the WIELS website each May. The remaining studios host international artists selected through open calls with partner institutions.
Application tips
WIELS does not accept unsolicited applications or make invitations; artists are selected exclusively through open calls, judged on the originality, coherence and quality of the artistic proposal and discourse.
