First Flights Short Film Fund
About this opportunity
The First Flights Short Film Fund awards non-recoupable production grants of up to GBP 7,000 / US$10,000 to emerging talent worldwide for live action and documentary shorts, including projects testing ideas before a feature. Selected filmmakers keep full creative control and receive festival and distribution support through Network Ireland Television and ShortsTV. Special awards include KODAK 16mm film stock for two filmmakers and a US$10,000 Periscope post-production package. Submissions open twice a year and carry an entry fee (GBP 20 early bird, GBP 30 regular, GBP 40 late).
Application tips
Submit early for the lower fee. You need a logline (up to 30 words), synopsis and director's vision (250 words each), a completed script (up to 30 pages), director bio, budget (template provided) and a lookbook; a sizzle reel is optional. Long-listed applicants are interviewed before final selection.
