British Council

The British Council Connections Through Culture grant funds international creative partnerships between the UK and artists or organisations in 35+ countries across the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The programme supports co-creation, residencies, workshops, research, collaborative exhibitions, festivals, and digital innovation across art forms including visual arts, film, theatre, music, and design. It is a meaningful route for emerging UK-based artists wanting to develop international collaborative practice.

Sacatar Foundation

Closes: August

The Sacatar Foundation offers an 8-week residency on the island of Itaparica near Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Since 2001, the programme has hosted over 550 artists from more than 75 countries across all disciplines. Residents receive a private bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three daily meals (except Saturday nights, Sundays, and Brazilian public holidays), individual studio space, weekly laundry service, logistical support, and airport transfers. One French artist per cycle may receive additional funding towards airfare and a stipend through the Villa Fatumbi partnership. No stipend or airfare is otherwise provided.

Film Independent

Film Independent's Screenwriting Lab is a two-week intensive workshop held in the first quarter of the year, providing individualised story and career development for emerging screenwriters. Fellows work closely with established screenwriters and industry mentors to develop their fiction feature screenplays.

Liu Shiming Art Foundation

The Liu Shiming Artist Grants support early-career visual artists in creating new projects that explore the interplay between traditional cultural or historical influences and contemporary artistic practice. Now in its fourth annual cycle, the programme awards up to five grants of USD $5,000 each to artists within their first decade of professional practice. Grant recipients' work is featured in the foundation's exhibitions; the 2026 cohort will be exhibited in 'Bio-morph' (June-August 2026). Winners are notified December 2, 2026.

Berlin International Film Festival

One of the most prestigious talent development programmes in world cinema, Berlinale Talents brings together 200 emerging film professionals for six days of labs, workshops, and masterclasses during the Berlin International Film Festival. The programme fosters cross-disciplinary exchange and offers direct access to industry leaders and the festival ecosystem.

Aperture Foundation / Paris Photo

Opens: May · Closes: September

The Paris Photo-Aperture PhotoBook Awards recognise the best photography books of the year across three categories: First PhotoBook ($10,000 for debut published books), PhotoBook of the Year (best overall, minimum edition of 100 copies), and Photography Catalog of the Year (exhibition catalogues where the main content is photography). Winners are exhibited at the Grand Palais during Paris Photo and announced on 13 November 2026. Shortlisted titles gain significant international visibility.
