About this opportunity

The Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht is a prestigious post-academic institute offering an eleven-month multidisciplinary residency. Approximately 36 participants each year benefit from generous studio space, professional workshops in printing, ceramics, and photography, and a rigorous programme of seminars, studio visits, and peer dialogue.

Application tips

The application fee is EUR 65 excluding VAT (EUR 78.65 including VAT), waived for applicants from countries on the OECD DAC list. Applicants submit an artist statement (250 words), motivation letter (500 words), project proposal (500 words), plus a PDF portfolio of up to 25 pages of work from the last five years and a 2-page CV. Alternatively, a single video/audio file (max 8 minutes) can replace the three written components. Selection results are communicated in May. The 2027 residency runs 15 January to 15 December 2027.

The Arts/Industry programme at John Michael Kohler Arts Center provides artists with the extraordinary opportunity to work in Kohler Co.'s pottery and foundry facilities. Twelve artists are selected annually across three cohorts of four (two per discipline). Residents receive 24/7 studio access, free industrial materials, equipment and technical support, photographic services, housing, round-trip transportation, and a weekly honorarium. The programme enables artists to create work at an industrial scale that would be impossible in a conventional studio.
