About this opportunity
The Michael O'Pray Prize, run by Film and Video Umbrella (FVU) with Art Monthly, is an annual award for new critical writing about innovation and experimentation in moving image. Named after the late moving image theorist and critic Michael O'Pray, it awards a GBP 800 winner's prize plus two paid commissions, and GBP 400 to each of two runners-up. Three finalists are invited to write a 1,250-1,500 word text, and winning texts are published online by Art Monthly and FVU.
Application tips
Applications need a writing sample of up to 1,200 words (PDF), a 300-350 word pitch and a CV of up to two A4 sides. Free to apply. Entries sent before the opening date are not reviewed.
