Pedantic Arts Residency
About this opportunity
The Pedantic Arts Residency in Pittsburgh brings together three creatives, a visual artist, an organiser and a writer, for a four-week programme focused on exchange rather than production. Residents receive a free bedroom in the Pedantic apartment on Penn Avenue, a $2,000 honorarium, a local guide in their field and weekly programming including studio visits, private dinners and museum tours. No final deliverable is required. The same open call also covers the Pedantic Research Grant, a one to two week research stay with a $500 or $1,000 honorarium.
Application tips
The letter of interest should explain why Pittsburgh specifically interests you, naming people, organisations or histories you want to engage with. Writers can submit up to 10 pages of writing samples. Applications are free until 28 September 2026 and cost $20 after that. You can apply for more than one term but will only be invited to one.
