About this opportunity

The International Creator Residency Programme at Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) invites international creators to work in Tokyo for three months. Six creators are selected (two per period) across three windows: May-July, September-November, and January-March. The programme covers airfare, living expenses, and production costs, fostering cross-cultural exchange in one of the world's most vibrant cities.

Application tips

The 2026 application deadline was June 25, 2025 (documents) and July 2, 2025 (portfolio). Three residency periods available: May-July 2026, September-November 2026, January-March 2027. Demonstrate how a period in Tokyo would specifically benefit your artistic practice. Artists may not repeat the same TOKAS programme. Travel elsewhere in Japan requires advance consultation.
