About this opportunity

The Liu Shiming Artist Grants support early-career visual artists in creating new projects that explore the interplay between traditional cultural or historical influences and contemporary artistic practice. Now in its fourth annual cycle, the programme awards up to five grants of USD $5,000 each to artists within their first decade of professional practice. Grant recipients' work is featured in the foundation's exhibitions; the 2026 cohort will be exhibited in 'Bio-morph' (June-August 2026). Winners are notified December 2, 2026.

Application tips

Your proposed project should clearly engage with a dialogue between cultural or historical traditions and contemporary practice. Applications open online and are assessed on artistic merit and the strength of the project proposal. Winners notified December 2, 2026; first payment January 15, 2027.
