About this opportunity
The Sundance Screenwriters Lab is one of the most influential development programmes in independent cinema. Fellows spend five intensive days at the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah working one-on-one with established writer-advisors to develop their original feature scripts. Alumni include some of the most distinctive voices in contemporary film. The January 2026 Lab took place 17-21 January 2026.
Application tips
Apply through the unified Development Track application, which also considers you for the Screenwriters Intensive and other fellowships. Your script need not be finished, but should demonstrate a clear and singular vision. The application fee is $45. Applications typically open mid-April and close mid-May. The 2027 cycle closed 12 May 2026; the next window expected April 2027.

The East-West Talent Lab at the goEast Film Festival brings together 12 non-fiction projects in development and up to 8 producers (who may apply without a project) for workshops, masterclasses, and one-on-one mentoring sessions with established film professionals. Two prizes are awarded: a Research Grant of EUR 3,500 for projects addressing human rights and/or minority rights, and the Pitch the Doc Prize (EUR 500 professional development).
